Privacy policy

1. Who we are

PrepUp (prepupinterviews.com) is operated by Debanshu Roy (sole proprietor), trading as PrepUp, 284, Suvidha Apartments, Sector 56, Gurgaon, Haryana, India 122011. We are the data fiduciary for the personal data described here under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

2. What we collect

• Your Google account basics: name, email address and profile picture, when you sign in with Google. We never see your Google password.
• Your resume, if you upload one: the file and a structured summary (education, roles, projects) that interviewers use to ask about your experience.
• Your interviews: everything you and the interviewer say, as text, plus the case, exhibits and settings of each session.
• Voice recordings, if you answer by voice: the audio of each answer and simple measures such as speaking pace and pauses.
• Reports and progress: rubric scores, feedback and drills generated from your interviews.
• College membership, if you join through a placement-cell link: which institution you joined.
• Payments, once paid plans launch: plan, amount, date and status. Card and UPI details are handled by our payment provider; we don't store them.

3. Why we use it

• To run your practice interviews and generate your reports, drills and progress.
• To keep your account secure and to stop misuse of the service.
• If you joined through your college's placement-cell link: to show that placement cell your practice activity and results.
• To answer your support requests and, once paid plans launch, to bill you.

We don't sell your data, we don't show ads, and we don't use your interviews to train our own models.

4. Who processes it

• AI model provider: interview turns, your resume summary and your answers are sent to our large-language-model provider (currently DeepSeek) to generate the interviewer's replies and to grade your answers. This processing may take place outside India.
• Speech-to-text: voice answers are transcribed in your own browser where possible; if not, the audio is sent to our transcription service.
• Hosting: the app, database and stored files run on Railway, in the United States.
• Sign-in: Google, for authentication only.
• Payments: Cashfree Payments, once paid plans launch.

5. How long we keep it

• Account, interviews and reports: while your account is active, and up to 30 days after you ask us to delete it.
• Voice recordings: 90 days after the interview, then the audio is deleted; the transcript and delivery measures stay with the interview.
• Resumes: until you delete them or your account.
• Payment records: as long as tax law requires.

6. Your rights

You can ask to see the data we hold about you, correct it, or delete your account and everything in it. Write to [email protected] from the email you sign in with. We respond within 30 days.

7. Cookies

We use only the cookies the service needs: your sign-in session, a short-lived cookie that carries a verified sign-in step, and small preferences such as which view of the library you last chose. No advertising or third-party tracking cookies.

8. Security

Data travels over HTTPS. Access to production systems is limited to the people who run PrepUp. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your data we will tell you and the authorities as the law requires.
